Finally, i broke it while trying to increase the strength and i decided to build my own.
It took me a while to come up with a design that i could build with my limited range of tools. I also needed to upgrade parts several times, because i had totally underestimated the forces involved.
First, the elastic band was not strong enough, i needed 4 strands of bungee-cord from a lawn-chair, before it was right. (Surgical rubber tubing might work better, i still need to try...)
Next was the motor, that couldn't keep up.
Then the cord ripped when arming the system. I had to go for mono-filament para-cord.
Finally, when everything was working, the acceleration was so high, that it snapped canes like a straw. Luckily, someone on fetlife recommended Delrin rods and with that, i had a working machine, that was capable of delivering a serious spanking.
This is how it works:
- The stepper-motor releases the paracord, so the arm is pulled back by the red elastic cord (replaced by a spring in the latest version)
- the electromagnet catches the strike-plate on the arm and a switch is pressed
- the motor runs in the other direction now and tightens the bungee-cords to the desired strength
- the machine is now armed!
- to deliver the stroke, the magnet is turned off. The bungee-cord let's the arm swing, ouch!
We had a lot of fun sessions with it, but one problem remained. It was always hitting the same spot.
Sure, i could move around a bit, but only to a certain extend and also i would have preferred to be unable to move much...
It took me a lot of brainstorming until i stumbled upon the perfect solution. A motorcycle-lift!
Mounting the spanking-machine on it and connecting the winch to another stepper was easy and while i was at it, i also swapped the stepper-driver for a better model which allowed to up the force a bit more, but mainly it doubled the arming speed and reduced the noise drastically.
Lady Helena loved the new features and had me almost begging for mercy, when we tried it the first time. We were both impressed with the results!
In the latest iteration, i made it independent of the central system and switched to a NodeMCU board. Again, the arming-speed doubled, it's now less than 5 seconds. But more important, setting up the machine is now done in less than a minute, so i can use it pretty spontaneously.
